CBD (cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring, non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. People use CBD in oils, gummies, flower and topicals for general wellness. CBD will not get you high, and hemp-derived CBD products are legal federally when they meet the THC limits.

All three are non-intoxicating hemp cannabinoids with different reputations: CBD is the all-purpose wellness cannabinoid, CBG ("the mother cannabinoid") is often chosen for daytime focus, and CBN is most commonly used in nighttime and sleep formulas. THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the raw, non-intoxicating precursor to THC found naturally in hemp flower. When heated — by smoking, vaping or cooking — THCA converts to THC, which is intoxicating. That conversion is why Virginia and (from December 11, 2026) federal law count THCA toward THC limits.

No. CBD is non-intoxicating, even at high servings. Full-spectrum CBD products contain trace THC within legal limits, which is not enough to cause intoxication at normal servings — but see the drug-test question below.

They can. Full-spectrum hemp products contain trace THC, and regular use can accumulate enough to trigger a positive drug test. If you are tested for work or military service, choose broad-spectrum or isolate products labeled THC-free — and understand that no product can guarantee a negative result.
